We have two tents on our site. Can we have a dining tent as well?
You are welcome to have a dining tent on your site in addition to the maxim two camping (sleeping) units per site.
Can we run a generator on a unserviced site?
We have a number of sites with 30 amp electrical service. Due to the noise of generators, we do not allow them.
How far ahead can I Reserve?
We accept reservations a year in advance and it is highly recommended that you do so when requesting a specific site.
Can we bring our ATV?
ATV riding in the park in prohibited.
Can we walk to the Bruce Trail from the park?
Yes, our park is located on the Bruce Trail
Are we allowed to drink alcohol at the park?
Alcohol is permitted at your campsite but you are not permitted to walk through the park with open alcohol.
Can we put up a tent along with our Trailer/RV on same site?
Yes, only on specific site only.
Where is the nearest grocery store/ beer store?
We have a good supply of groceries and camping supplies on site. The LCBO/ Beer Store and produce store are a short drive to Lion’s head or Wiarton.
Your rules say only 2 adults per site. Can our older children (over 17) come and stay with us?
We are a family oriented campground so of course children over the age of 17 are allowed to stay with you on your site. We only allow however one family per site to lessen the environmental impacts of overcrowding a site.
How late can we arrive for check-in?
Our office closes at 9 p.m. daily. Anyone arriving after hours must make prior arrangements with our reservations office. We do have a night patroller on duty who can escort you to your site after hours, but pleas remember that other campers may be sleeping so set up quietly.
No arrivals after 11:00 p.m.
You say no outside radios. Can we play music in our tent?
In order to help maintain a tranquil park where the sounds of nature can be heard anytime of day, we do not allow any music during our quiet time 11:00 p.m.to 9:00 a.m.
Excessive Noise/Language/Damage Deposit – Campers/Renters/Guests may be subject to a $100.00 cash deposit at the time of check in at the Office. If during the time of the Camper/Renter/Guest’s stay at Hope Bay Campground; they are found by Management to cause excessive noise, use offensive language or are generally disruptive to the Family Camping environment or cause damage to property, surrounding wildlife area or otherwise – WILL be asked to leave immediately without refund AND each member of the site will have forfeit their deposit. For any questions about this prior to booking, please call the office.
Are there bears in the park?
We do not see bears in the park , however, we are in bear country so it is important that you take care with your food items and be sure not to leave food unattended. It is more likely that you will encounter a hungry raccoon or chipmunk rather than a bear, but for the safety of all wildlife please be responsible and do not feed wild animals, keep your site clear of food and garbage, and secure all food items away at night or when your site is unattended.
Is your beach sandy or rocky and is it safe to swim in?
Yes, we have a very safe sandy beach with deeps gradually.
Do we have to pay for showers?
No, we have free showers in the park, but please help to conserve our precious water and keep showers to a reasonable duration.
Is the water in the park safe to drink?
Yes, all the water in the campground the water is potable
